On a day off, my “Food Experiment” can take some weird turns…

Today, I had hoped to work on 9-1-1 again. In fact, I was looking forward to a whole week of work, but when they don’t need you for a day or two, they don’t need you. It is what it is.

So, instead, I planned on driving in the morning. It’s a better chance of consistent rides and adequate pay, and then I would have the rest of the day to make headway on My Cancer Story.

But… I fell back asleep and woke up at 10:30 again. SIGH.

I made up for it but making my own breakfast again; a veritable Whole30 buffet to boot. Scrambled eggs with coconut milk, hazelnuts, Brazil nuts, raisins, hemp seeds, goji berries, and that scrumptious Tim Horton’s coffee.

I eventually, got around to driving and had a banana, some carrots, celery, and coffee while on the road. Don’t worry, I ate the banana first and chucked the peel before it grew foul.

Upon my return, I had the last two portions of my decadent Shepard’s Pie.

But I was running low on ingredients, and the only money I had was for a car payment that comes out on Friday. Luckily, I had shipped my old phone that I sold on eBay and withdrew forty out of my PayPal expressly for food.

I trekked over to Ralph’s and carefully purchased Whole30-friendly items while using Ibotta for maximum savings. In the end, my total was thirty-six bucks.

Whew.

After I got home, I ate some of the spring-mix that leftover from the side salad from the slider snack, and topped it with my homemade ranch dressing. I sided it with a quartet of pickles.

The ranch has thickened up a “tad.”

But I was still hungry. My cravings have only intensified, and I had to have something “sweet.” Unfortunately, my brain thought chocolate, and so I grabbed a spoonful of 100% cocoa powder and choked it down.

Not my best idea.

Then I still craved satisfaction, and I went into some more hazelnuts and raisins to soothe the alarmed beast known as “stomach.”

For now, he’s resting, but tomorrow is forever another battle.

Jamie writes about himself a lot. Yeah, he knows that can be irritating, but he hopes that people can learn from his mistakes, like when he had cancer and waited too long to chase his dream. Learn more about his battle with Leukemia (AML) in his on-going first draft of his book here.
