Whole30 Day Eleven

Another set day means navigating the tricky waters of Craft Services! Watch me flail wildly!

I was the first PA to arrive at work today. The others had worked later the previous night, and so the AD staff used my early call time to their benefit. My job was twofold today. First, I was to greet our stunt players and an actor at the Fox Lot, then shuttle over to basecamp and get them through looks*. Well, since our amazing Basecamp 2nd AD does her thing there, upon arrival, I got some breakfast.

Frozen potatoes still count as potatoes. You can’t even see the eggs!

Later, we all headed to set to do the normal lockup scenarios until my second task of the day: to head back to the Fox Lot to round-up and check in our background folks. But before I left, we had a baked potato bar, and for once, I could enjoy the set snack.

I chose a sweet potato and put onions, green onions, bacon, chicken, and beef on it.

The process of working with background was rather easy for we only had thirteen working today. Plus, it helped that we had a few recurring folks, and all of them were professional in every sense.

And during the day, I discovered these trees:

As my friend, Pearly put it: this is an “I fucking dare you to climb me” tree.

When lunch break arrived, I had some more basic Whole30 goodness:

That beef brisket fell apart on my fork!

And barring any potential NDA-breaking details, that’s the rest of the day, really! I didn’t eat too much– Well, these meals were large and filling.

See you tomorrow for Day Twelve!

*”Looks” is the term we use on set to describe the hair,¬†make-up, and costume departments’ crucial work.

Jamie writes about himself a lot. Yeah, he knows that can be irritating, but he hopes that people can learn from his mistakes, like when he had cancer and waited too long to chase his dream. Learn more about his battle with Leukemia (AML) in his on-going first draft of his book here.
