Yay! 9-1-1 DAY! Except it’s another day with the same ol’ food.

Yes, you read that right. I’m getting bored of the Whole30-friendly options at catering, but NOT my eggs!

I used to detest eggs. My mom tried to feed me boiled eggs as a kid, and I remember sitting in front of the living room window and being forced to chew the rubbery white flesh down. I vowed NEVER to eat eggs again. Then, over many years working in the kitchen at Eastern Maine Medical Center, I had grown to love them (even going as far as to love Egg Beaters).

Yet, here I am today, thankful for their sustenance every. Single. Morning.

Today was an arduous day. I was tasked with background once more, and I was spread extremely thin at a location that had plenty of steps between the background holding and set.

But I LOVED IT! Even though I woke up minutes away from being late for work. Whoops! I wasn’t going to let that get me down, though. I’m living my fucking dream, step by step. Nothing can get me down. Frustrated? Sure. But “The worst day on set is better than any great day at any other job.”

Lunch was where I got bored. I had the same plain chicken breast, variation on beef, steamed vegetables, potatoes, and watermelon I always have. I wish they had as much variety in their Whole30 fare as they do everything else.

After one of the busiest days yet, I called my brother and Briana to congratulate them on their FIRST CHILD! Mason Robert Gagnon, born earlier in the afternoon, weighing five pounds, some odd ounces, and standing eighteen inches long, is my third nephew but my sister’s FIRST chance at being an Auntie! She’s super stoked to shower that kid with love.

I went home and cooked some more of my tasty “sloppy joes” and got right to freeing my creative cork. Maybe I should share the recipe for these sloppy joes? Would any of you out there like that? Sound off in the comments below.

I forgot to share this before I dug in.

See you tomorrow for another rewarding set day on 9-1-1!

Jamie writes about himself a lot. Yeah, he knows that can be irritating, but he hopes that people can learn from his mistakes, like when he had cancer and waited too long to chase his dream. Learn more about his battle with Leukemia (AML) in his on-going first draft of his book here.
