So I’m scrolling through the wall on Facebook earlier (it gets everybody sometimes) and I see this girl whom her ENTIRE photo gallery is comprised of selfies.
Now naturally selfies are all of the rage (have been for years, I’m not THAT old), but it was startling how many there were. I rarely take selfies, but it makes the most sense. Instead of having some random stranger who passes by do the photo taking, just turn the camera (or now press a button to switch to the front-facing camera) and do it yourself.
Perhaps worst of it all, more so than how many she had taken– nearly one a day for over two years– was each photo had a song quote attached to it. Again, I’ve seen this before, but I must reiterate: EVERY PHOTO HAD A QUOTE.
Must we be so wholly unoriginal to write some immaterial quote from some flavor of the week song for each and every selfie? Are the lyrics meant to represent the mood of the moment? Is that the song playing during the photo’s creation? Or did it just speak to your inner soul…
Man, enough with that. If you’re going to take a photo a day, at least do it under a challenge or photo concept. Or just at least you can write your own damned words under it!
Rant over. I’m going to snap a selfie.
“I only call you when it’s half past five
The only time that I’ll be by your side
I only love it when you touch me, not feel me…”
