For #109 of the #DLMChallenge #365moviesin365days on June 5th I watched: Spy.
Finally, a female-led comedy featuring Melissa McCarthy that doesn’t just insult her on a consistent basis.
Yes, truly this movie is fun, full of character, and doesn’t try to rely solely on fat jokes.
The surrounding cast and its direction are that of pure genius. Jason Statham rarely does comedy, but he should try it more often, as he is one of the funniest parts.
And if that wasn’t enough, Miranda Hart, Rose Byrne, and Jude Law will ensure you have a thoroughly good time.
Come for Melissa falling sideways off a bike, stay for the real humor.
Cinematographer: Robert D. Yeoman (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom)
Written and Directed by: Paul Feig (Ghostbusters, Bridesmaids)
Main Cast:
Melissa McCarthy (The Nines, Tammy)
Jason Statham (Crank, Furious 7)
Rose Byrne (X-Men First Class, Neighbors)
Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes, Closer)
