73- #DLMChallenge “Nebraska”

For #73 of the #DLMChallenge #365moviesin365days on May 3rd I watched: Nebraska.

Black and white movies are extremely rare these days, and the choice is usually employed to drive home a theme within in the film, and Nebraska is no different.

Being my first Alexander Payne film yet, Nebraska delivers in strong character development and ostensibly simple, yet intricate story elements.

Bruce Dern was great as an older man losing his humanity while gaining in senility. He “wins” a contest for a million dollars and must travel all the way to Nebraska from Montana to collect the money.

Will Forte also shines as Dern’s helpful son who decides to drive him in hopes that he can be happy.

It’s one of those slower paced dramatic films, but if you like those, I’d highly recommend this Academy Award-nominated film.
