For #42 of the #DLMChallenge #365moviesin365days on March 28th I watched: It Follows. There’s little question as to why people followed this film as it grew in distribution.
The film follows (no pun this time) a young woman who comes across a demonic monster after sleeping with the man who was once haunted by it. If it sounds like a metaphor for STDs, then you’ve understood my subtle hint. This film however lays it on thick. BUT!
This does not make it any less of a film. It’s smart, creepy, and has a soundtrack evocative of the classic John Carpenter films (something with which I’ve been intimately acquainted recently).
The crazy part is that without much violence, and nudity only for disgusting visuals, the film is pretty clean for a horror film. Many other horror movies get away with murder at a PG-13 rating, while this one is barely an R.
Watch it if you love horror movies. You may not like it, but that’s okay, because this movie is worth the watch.
