Real Lyrics- U.N.K.L.E. “Wash the Love Away” (Feat. Gavin Clark)

I don’t know what it is about the late, great Gavin Clark, but his voice is difficult to discern. His lyrics are simple and his message is powerful, but damn it if the internet collective can’t agree on his lyrics.

So far as I know, U.N.K.L.E. has never released the official lyrics for many of their songs and so, I’m back to decipher Gavin’s haunting vocals once more. Without further adieu, here are the lyrics for “Wash the Love Away:”

U.N.K.L.E. “Wash the Love Away” Feat. Gavin Clark

Rain, rain, rain,
Has gathered inside of me,
Has gathered inside of me,
To wash my love away.
Oh, joy, love, light,
Is eating away at me,
Is eating away at me,
To be my only saint (?)
Oh it seems a long way
{I’m giving the light away
Giving the light} x 3
I’m giving the light away.
{And I,
I’m giving the joy to you,
I’m giving the joy to you,
I give it back to you.} x 3
Light. Oh ah oh
You got a place to go x3 (3:06)
Oh!
Ah!
Ah!
Love, Love, Love
You’ve risen inside of me,
You’ve risen inside of me,
To wash the dirt away.
Oh turn turn turn,
You’re turning inside of me,
You’re taking the life from me,
To go your own way.
Oh, it seems a long way.
You’re giving the light away.
{And I,
I’m giving the joy to you,
I’m giving the joy to you,
I give it back to you.} x 4
