Have you ever watched a movie and anticipated the use of the title spoken via dialogue?
It’s been a favorite thing of mine for decades. In fact, I almost get upset when they don’t use it. Sure there are some movies like the Men in Black or Fight Club who use it all the time but it’s not about quantity, it’s about existing.
TV Tropes labels it as Title Drop, but it’s the same idea.
There are scores of movies that never use their title: Jaws, A Clockwork Orange, Star Wars, the list goes on.
But as times passes, more and more films use their moniker somewhere within the script, and I’m not too sure if that’s a good thing or the sign of a “clever” screenwriter. I guess it’s akin to picking out the use of The Wilhelm Scream.
