Bill Pullman contrary to popular belief, is NOT Bill Paxton and vice versa.
I know, crazy right?
Hell no, it’s not. It happens more often than you think. Seriously.
These two men look nothing alike and honestly, aside from their first names, share very little.
Oh wait, they’re both actors.
When someone is a casual fan of movies, these mix-ups can happen. Sure, no one is expecting you to know who everyone is; especially not me.
What I’m getting at is these two men (and their respective families) surely wouldn’t prefer being confused for one another.
This kind of thing happens all of the time, and is often used to comedic effect. I always think back to the scene in the HBO show Extras. When the two painfully awkward extras, Andy (Ricky Gervais) and Maggie (Ashley Jensen) discussed Samuel L. Jackson’s film roles (“you were great in The Matrix“). It too made light of a person’s inability to keep track of each respective actor. (Sam also pokes fun at it on the Tonight Show.)
The lesson here? Just keep watching New Girl starring Katy Perry.
Update 2/25/17: RIP Bill Paxton…
