During my newest screenplay’s outline stage, while stuck at the midpoint, I’d experienced something immense, albeit nothing new.
I made my main character make a mistake (or perhaps she took this path herself).
In her time-traveling efforts she left someone in the past (stupidly planning on dealing with him later), and has irrevocably changed the course of her timeline.
Now in the heat of the back half of Act Two and dripping over into Act Three, she must somehow fight to correct the course of her error, and press on to fix the initial issues that plagued her in the first place.
These moments happen when outlining or even during the writing stage, but this revelation had me floored, and excited.
