This week, I went in the semi-distant future to visit Earth when all of the polar ice caps have melted. Yes, I watched the financially disastrous 1995 post-apocalyptic film:

In my youth, my Father spent lots of time tending to our personal garden over the summer months in Northern Maine. My brother and I were however too lazy to help in any discernible way, and to subsequently learn a life lesson about hard work and dedication in the process. We sure did enjoy eating the fruits of his labor though!
As my second year of writing on the blog comes to a close, I’m grateful to all of you out there who have supported me by reading the blog, commenting, and helping it grow from its meager beginnings to a mildly more popular site. I shattered my old view count for 2015, I intend to once again double the views from the previous year; which will be an astonishing goal to reach. Here are my views for the year 2016:

In a whirlwind of middling special effects and blockbuster action, for this week’s #52PickUp, I watched the 1996 Man vs. Nature film:
Originally, the #52PickUp was only going to feature movies that meant something to me as a filmmaker, or solidified my particular tastes when it came to the medium. When I compiled my list late last year, I found that a lot of the films mentioned were more recent ones; and I had wanted more of my childhood/early teens represented.
So I took a lot of the recent ones like Inception out. But there is one recent one that I’d like to discuss due to its impact and resonance on some of my favorite types of events: Crossovers.
…And of course due to the imminent release of Captain America: Civil War (or as I like to call it, Avengers 2.5).
But here is the first Big Daddy of crossover events:
