Calling All Crohn’s Sufferers

Last night, I experienced the worst flare-up of my Crohn’s Disease yet; the third instance of 2018. The kicker? All of these were following my revelatory dietary changes via the Whole30 Elimination Program. And no, this is not an attempt to correlate the two, but only to shed light on how Crohn’s Disease can strike no matter how much one arms themselves with preventative measures.

The Whole30 Wrap-Up

This post is long overdue*. I have been working more days on 9-1-1 then ALL of my other television work combined. I’m incredibly grateful for that, but after I get home, my mind is spent, and I typically pass out within minutes of entering the front door. Usually on the floor or the couch. Heck, even one time, I fell asleep while brushing my teeth, and I didn’t get a single drop of toothpaste on me!

The Whole30 Lifestyle Shift

During the second half of 2014, I underwent one of the most stressful moments in my life. I began to have random anxiety attacks that led to panic attacks. Now, I’m no stranger to these episodes, but these were unwarranted and not initiated by my own, usual provocations. No, these were an attack on my system, and I had no idea why they were happening. I went to the doctors, racked up thousands of dollars of specialist visits and tests & procedures and the doctor’s eventually diagnosed me with Crohn’s Disease. I knew people who had Crohn’s and in no way did I agree with the diagnosis. But the test to disprove it was a DNA marker test that would only rule it out as a cause if I had absolutely ZERO of the markers for Crohn’s, and the majority of the population has at least some of them.
