Whoo boy! And I thought I slept in YESTERDAY! Continue to read about my late start to the day and my first #Whole30 recipe!!
After the long night of shooting on 9-1-1, I got home right at 6:30 AM. Yup. I knew, however, that I would have to wake up and move my car within two hours for my roommate to escape our tandem parking prison, so I just fell asleep in my car. That way, when he came downstairs, I would be ready to move it.
The plan went off without a hitch– except for my roommate thinking that I was upstairs after seeing my car blocking him, and then subsequently locking himself out of the apartment. Whoops. After I moved my car, I went upstairs and fell asleep some more. I awoke again at around 10:30 and then… fell back asleep. I finally forced myself out of bed at 3:30 PM. Boy normally this really get me frustrated, but today I made a conscious effort to take charge and make the most of my day.
I made breakfast first, the usual: Two fried eggs, grilled onions & jalapeños, hazelnuts, blueberries, and my Tim Horton’s. The only difference was that I made the breakfast at 4:30 PM.

Then, I went to pick up my check from Legion and drove Lyft for three hours. That’s what I was planning on doing if I didn’t work overnight, anyway. The only thing I had on the road was two more cups of coffee.
I returned home and made myself a proper meal. Actually, it was my VERY FIRST Whole30 recipe! I had been dying to try their take on one of my all-time favorite meals as a kid: Shepard’s Pie.
I had purchased all of the ingredients a few days back but had only now had the time to make it.
The ingredients are rather simple:
I wished that mine would look half as good as that one. My goal was to start laundry and cooking at the same time. First, I threw my laundry in downstairs and then, I got to work on my meal.
I cubed and boiled my sweet potatoes, then cut up my onions, carrots, and celery only to sautee them in the clarified butter.
My ground beef and garlic were added next, and then I layered the sweet potato on top of the dish to throw it in the oven.
And finally, after my laundry was complete, my dish followed suit.

I ate two portions and saved the remaining four for two more meals. Hey, don’t judge me, I eat heartily.
The final thing I ate while watching the newest episode of 9-1-1, was a green apple. I ate so little considering I woke up so late today, but that’s okay, because it was yet another day I ate plenty of delectable foods and didn’t starve myself, and I consider that a diet win-win.
See you tomorrow! I’m back on set!
